How to Upload Song Lyrics to Spotify, Apple Music, and Other Digital Stores
To add, edit, and sync the lyrics of your songs on digital stores, you need to use an external service called
Musixmatch. This platform is responsible for linking the lyrics to your songs so they can be displayed in real time
during playback.
It's important to note that Musixmatch is not part of Indiefy, so we are unable to provide direct assistance during this
process. However, we're happy to share the necessary information so you can access the service and start syncing your
lyrics correctly.
Below, we show you the steps to begin syncing your lyrics with Musixmatch:
1. Create a Musixmatch account:
Visit the Musixmatch website and sign up. You can log in using a Google, Facebook, or email account.
Before you verify your artist account, Musixmatch may suggest one of its memberships based on the artist's needs. You
can choose from 4 paid plans that offer various benefits depending on the plan, but you can continue with the free
option if your only goal is to sync your lyrics across platforms.
2. Click on the option that says “Add artist”
- On the right side, you’ll find a box where you can click to add the artist you want to sync the lyrics with on
streaming platforms.
3. Verify your artist account
If you are an artist, verify your artist profile on Musixmatch. Go to the Musixmatch for Artists section and follow the
steps to claim your profile. This will require verified information, such as links to your artist profiles on platforms
like Spotify or Apple Music.
4. Sync your catalog
Once your profile is verified, you can start uploading your song lyrics. If your songs are already available on
streaming platforms, Musixmatch will allow you to upload the lyrics manually or synchronize them with the music.
5. Upload and sync the lyrics
Go to the Contribute section within the platform or app. Select the song you wish to add lyrics to and start uploading.
Afterward, you can sync the lyrics to appear in real-time as the music plays.
6. Wait for approval
Musixmatch will review the lyrics you’ve uploaded and their synchronization. Once approved, your lyrics will appear on
associated platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.
Once you’ve completed these steps, you’ll successfully link the lyrics to your releases when they are published on
different digital stores.
