In the music business nowadays it is crucial to have up and running social media accounts. We can not help you directly with your accounts, however, we have some advice collected by music industry professionals in our team that's worth reading.
There is no recipe for a perfect social media curation of your music project, however, we would like to share some basic guidelines with you.
Make a start
When you are starting out with your new project, immediately secure a new Instagram account with your artist name.
Then proceed to create a Facebook page for your project. Setting up a YouTube channel can also be very important, especially when you plan to release music soon.
Make it clear
Choose a clear and concise account name that is easy to memorize for people: not too long, not too short, not too many numbers, and upper case/lower case letters. The fan needs to be able to find your profiles easily when they look for your artist name.
Make it accessible
Have your social networks on PUBLIC, not PRIVATE. People need to be able to see immediately what the profile is about. This makes their decision of whether to follow your artist profile or not way easier.
Make it interesting
Define a brand message and think of content that matches your music and your own interests. The world will only find your posts interesting if you find them interesting yourself.
You could be showing your fans what you're currently working on, what you do in your free time, or even funny content that is somewhat related to your music and artist identity. There are (almost) no limits to showing your fans the world around you and your music!
However, we do advise you to stay away from any political or polarising content, as this can easily disappoint some of your fans, and you probably want to avoid that.
Share, share, share!
Share the project with all your friends and family, and ask them to like and share it too. You can look for Facebook groups to join, so you can get in touch with other artists.
On that note, you could also find Instagram hashtags to use that similar artist projects or your desired genre is using. This could get you some more exposure.
Show consistency in motivation
No matter if you have 2, 2.000, or 2.000.000 followers: be excited, show passion, and take it seriously from the very beginning. Every single bit of effort matters, and you have to make a start somewhere.
We know how difficult it is to get organic followers, but it matters to stay real. We promise, your consistency will reflect on the fan's side in one way or another.
Post regularly (but don't spam!)
Last but not least, make sure to share posts on your profile regularly. It is important to create interaction with your fans on a regular basis but of course in a high quality and professional manner (meaning, don't go crazy and post all kinds of spam content on your pages)
But remember the most important thing: Have fun!
