It is very important to choose your artist name carefully when you create your artist profile because changing your artist name after your release has been approved by Indiefy can become a challenging task.
Changing your artist name when you already have an active artist profile and uploaded releases is not recommended.
If this is what you want to do, the first thing that needs to be done is to delete your current artist profile (a different process than deactivating your account), which means that in order for you to be able to delete your artist profile, you need to take down your releases.
Remember, you can keep your stats by keeping your release's ISRC codes and adding this information the moment you reupload them.
Once your releases are taken down, you can now proceed to delete your artist profile. To delete your artist profile, go to your dashboard > My artists > click on the trash icon of your current artist profile.
After your artist profile is deleted, you can create a brand new artist profile with your new artist name. You can now upload your releases under your new artist name, with updated art covers and you will receive updated artist profiles in the stores your music will be distributed to.
Keep in mind that you have to wait 3 weeks for the releases to be completely taken down from stores for you to be able to upload them again to your new artist profile. To find out how to take down your releases, click here.
This applies to both PRO and Basic accounts.
